Linus Pauling, 2-time Nobel Prize winner, stated that more and more physicians are getting convinced about the value of large doses of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is one of world’s best natural antibiotic, antiviral, antitoxin and antihistamine.
The November 24, 2011 Journal of Orthomolecular Medicine newsletter discussed a study referenced in PubMed that linked high blood levels of vitamin C with lower incidence of heart failure, while lower serum levels of vitamin C were connected to higher death rates.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant, meaning that it can protect us from the cell-damaging effects of free radicals. Vitamin C is also vital for collagen synthesis, it helps shield us from conditions relating to collagen deficiency such as dry hair, rough skin, easy bruising, aching joints, and bleeding gums. It is also responsible for cleaning the arteries and improves the flow of blood to our heart.
(1) Weakened immune system.
(2) Bleeding gums, loose teeth, or gingivitis.
(3) Rapid mood changes, short tempers, and irritability can be an early sign of scurvy.
(4) Bleeding and bruising easily.
(5) Chronic limb or joint pain.
(6) Anemia is another sign of possible vitamin C deficiency.
(7) Slower tissue, bone and cartilage repair.
According to Linus Pauling and the Linus Pauling Institute, vitamin C therapy has been found to prevent, and even reverse serious health condition, such as cancer. The Linus Pauling Institute recommends that healthy men and women eat “at least five servings (2? cups) of fruits and vegetables daily” – which provides about 200 mg of vitamin C. He recommended to take “Vitamin C but at the first sign of a cold, take a gram of vitamin C or 2 grams and then an hour later, if the symptoms still exist – if you’re still sneezing, or your nose is running or feel shivery, take another 1 or 2 grams of Vitamin C. Keep doing that until you forget because the symptoms have gone away and this will stop a cold in almost every person who follows the regimen.”
Foods rich in vitamin C include oranges, lemons, hot chili peppers, parsley, thyme and dark leafy greens like kale, spinach and garden cress.
Homemade Vitamin C
Making Vitamin C at home is super easy and won’t cost you anything.
- Take organic orange peels and cut them into strips
- Allow the peels to dry at room temperature for a couple of days until crisp
- Once dried, grind the orange strips in any grinder ( I use a coffee grinder)
- Take one teaspoon daily ( I add it into my daily smoothies)
- Be sure to store in an airtight container.
One teaspoon of powdered orange peels will provide you with more Vitamin C than your body needs.
