7 Toxins That Destroy Your Thyroid Health and the One Drink Recipe to Save It

The thyroid gland is known as the body's master control center. It manages the body's production of protein, energy use, and sensitivity to other hormones.

Hormonal output is controlled by the anterior pituitary gland's production of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). When doing thyroid function tests, doctors primarily look at the levels of TSH. Measuring your testosterone levels only provides a partial picture of your hormone balance.

Several things could influence how your thyroid operates.

There are numerous factors that can affect how your thyroid functions. Amazingly, there are nine ordinary items found in the household that can damage your thyroid.

The Adverse Effects of Thyroid Toxins

Toxins are all around us in our environment, and there’s not much we we can do to get rid of them. However, we can, minimize our exposure to compounds that are toxic, minimizing the risk of developing complications with our thyroid. The thyroid can be protected with iodine supplementation from toxic compounds.

7 Destructive Toxins that Threaten the Thyroid

Pesticides

A study revealed that men who used pesticides in their daily work their wives were at a much higher risk of developing thyroid problems than other women. In another related study, research shows that about 60 percent of pesticides used daily are likely to affect the thyroid’s production of hormones. Anti-fungal and weed killers used on our vegetables have been proven to decrease thyroid function and increase resistance to weight loss.

Soy

Soy proteins have been found to neutralize thyroid peroxidase. Phytoestrogens the protein found in soy act as an agent to disrupt regular thyroid function by blocking the body’s ability to use iodine, by preventing the iodine from becoming thyroid hormones, blocking the secretion of thyroid hormone, and interrupting the peripheral conversion of T4 to T3. Researchers have also revealed that infants who ingest soy formula had extended increases in their thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels, in relation to infants fed non-soy formulas. Another variable to consider is that soy is also genetically modified food (GMO).

Fluoride

In America, 70percent of the water supply as fluoride added to lessen cavities. What the general population is not aware of is that during the first half of the 20th century fluoride was actually prescribed in small proportions of 2-5 mg as remedy for an overactive thyroid per day over a period of a month to treat this disorder. This is a real issue when it is considered the number of people drinking fluoridated water are exposed to daily.

Bromine

Often, even healthy patients can have high levels of the flame-retardant substance, bromine, in their bodies.Bromine is toxic to the thyroid, and is found in almost everything from pool cleaner to pasta. Finding items without this chemical can be tricky.

Perchlorates

Perchlorate is a waste product that is formed fuels for jets and rockets, fireworks and airbags are created. TheCDC states that almost everyone on earth have perchlorates in their bodies. This is found in the water use to water our fruits, vegetables, and found in our drinking water. The CDC did a study that proved that its highly difficult to avoid being exposed to perchlorates, but we can minimize it by drinking filtered water and eating organic vegetables and fruits.

Halogens

These are not the headlights on a car, but we are talking about fluoride and chloride. Iodine transportation can be interrupted due to over-exposure Fluoride and chlorides prevents the thyroid functioning effectively, it only takes small dosages of these two substances to lower the functioning of the thyroid is quite low at just 2-5 mg per day. These halogens are absorbed through food, water, even the environment. Because their makeup is similar to iodine, these halogens block the iodine receptors in your body and make the natural iodine in your body.

Plastics

Antimony is a chemical that comes from plastic bottles, and plastic is not just hazardous to the environment but also to your health namely your thyroid. A study that was conducted by Copenhagen University exposed that the levels of antimony found in juices which are store in plastic bottles where 2.5 % higher than what is safe for tap water. BPA and phthalates have also been shown in studies to reduce thyroid function.

Plastics are hazardous to both the environment and your body. A chemical that leeches from plastic bottles, antimony, is just one concern. A study done at the University of Copenhagen found that the levels of antimony in juices that were stored in plastic bottles were more than 2.5 times higher than what is considered safe for tap water.
