Here’s What Your Favorite Color Says About You

What does your favorite color mean?

Color Psychology deals with studying particularly how our brains perceive color and how it can influence our lives. Color Psychology is not an entirely new field of research, but scholars are still in the initial stages of trying to understand why a certain person may have a stronger preference for a color, while another individual may prefer an entirely different one.

Perhaps it’s time to take some time to consider what your favorite color (or colors) can reveal about your personality, way of thinking, or your life in general.

Colors in Business

You may have noticed that many restaurants use the color Red in their interiors. A brief explanation is that Red is supposed to make people feel hungrier, more energized, or excited. Red is also associated with boldness and assertiveness, which can individually translate to mean different aspects of hunger.

Alternatively, the color Blue is often linked to stability and competence. In fact, the company IBM, at one point, had earned for itself the moniker the “Big Blue” for exemplifying stability in their industry.

In marketing, the color Blue represents dependability, strength, and trustworthiness, so it only makes sense that most businesses or corporations trying to reflect these virtues also prefer using Blue in their logos as well as marketing collats.

This idea of color preferences also gives some insight into how our brains use color as a part of producing and storing short-term and long-term memories, as marketing studies reveal how customers have the tendency to associate certain colors with certain companies, brands, or products over time.

Personal Color Psychology

Aside from its relation to business and marketing, on the more personal level, Color Psychology can also have a direct semblance to personality.

For instance, people who favor the color Red, usually have bold and energetic personalities, combined with a natural excitement for adventures or new experiences.

On the other hand, people whose favorite color is Blue are often described by their friends/acquaintances as reliable, trustworthy, strong, and stable.

For certain individuals, their favorite color(s) can remain the same throughout their lives, while for some it may change once or even more as time passes by. Some people too may find that they have more than one or two favorite colors at some point, but all of these is quite normal for everyone.

All in all, there is a no right or wrong way for us to relate to or perceive colors, but it can be quite enlightening and interesting to know how a certain color most accurately resonates with us at certain points.
