There is nothing wrong with your relationship, but it isn't exactly right either. And warning signs that a relationship has outgrown itself.
But how can you tell if the relationship is over if neither of you discloses anything?
Breakups are difficult
No matter your relationship length or depth, breakups suck a lot. There is no denying that. That’s why it is often hard to see the signs a relationship is over.
We all breath in this area of denial. You are in a serious relationship, but it isn’t what it used to be.
Maybe you make excuses about job or stress, but deep down in your heart, you know the relationship is over.
All you have to do is admit the truth to yourself, then your partner.
I don’t blame you for sitting in that space where actually talking the relationship from over to the ultimate end is paused, but from experience, I can tell you it is worth it to rip the Bandaid off now rather than regrating later.
The longer you take time to end a relationship, especially once you’ve seen those signs that a relationship is over, the worse it will be.
So if you notice some or even all of these things in your relationship take them as signs and just end it soon.
20 Major Signs a relationship is over:
relationship is over
There are justifications to be made for almost all of these signs. You can convince yourself you don’t have time for your partner due to work.
You feel too tired for sex. And you might think, “we don’t argue,” as a sign your relationship isn’t that bad.
1. You live like roommates than lovers under one roof.
This can happen in many longterm relationships, especially if you live with one another.
You may talk about bills, dinner, and what to watch on Netflix, but it doesn’t go beyond that.
A romantic relationship should add more value to your life than this.
2. You’d rather spend time with friends or alone.
When you are in a happy and healthy relationship, you want to spend more time with your lover.
You’re excited for dinner nights. But if things are nearing the end, you may be looking forward to seeing your friends more than your partner.
On top of that, you want more alone time than before.
We all have moments like this, but if this is happening more often than not, it could be a major sign a relationship is over.
3. You don’t bother fighting.
This is one of those things I have seen in just about every relationship that has ended. Instead of arguing, you both give in and just let things go.
This may look healthy, but discussing your opinions and opening up is important for a healthy relationship.
If you have gotten to a point where both of you just don’t bother to argue, you may both be checked out.

4. You constantly argue.
Constantly arguing and fighting about things can be a sign of a stressful situation. It may be one of you lost your job or is going through something.
But if your arguments are full of bickering about silly things rather than important issues you want to work on, it is a sign you’re both on your last leg.
5. The relationship feels more like a duty than a pleasure.
A relationship is a duty. None of us ever said it wasn’t.
But the good and happy things should be worth the effort. If it’s not, it is a sign the relationship is over.
6. Your friends have noticed a change in your life.
Before one of my closest friends broke up, I noticed how much she had changed. She seemed tired and stuck into her mind trap.
She never had anything positive to say about her partner.
If your friends say anything like this to you, take note. Remember that, they often know you better than you know yourself.
7. You develop crushes on other people in your life.
It is normal to think somebody at work is cute, but if you start developing real feelings for somebody that isn’t your partner, the relationship is over in your mind.
8. You’re checked out.
If you are already checked out of your relationship, it needs to end.
If you don’t reach out to your partner with news, barely respond to their msgs, and just have no interest in putting in even the slightest bit of effort, they deserve the truth.
9. You don’t spend time with each other.
When you are happy in your relationship, you make time for your partner. You change your daily schedule if need be.
But if your relationship takes the backtrack to everything else in your life, there is something wrong.
Not spending time with each other, even eating breakfast together, is a red flag.

10. You easily get annoyed than before.
We all have some flaws. Few people chew with their mouth open, other people snore.
And when you are in a true relationship, you may even find those things endearing.
But once their lacking dishwashing skills begins to get to you and your consistent channel flipping gets to your partner, you are both losing it.
The good thing is no longer good enough to make these things fall into the background.
11. You want to get them to end it.
But it’s coward’s move. You already know it is time to ends things.
You are already done, but rather spitting out the words, you start fighting, bring up the past instances, maybe even cheat, so that your lover has to do the breaking up.
Trust me, it is very easy just do it yourself.
12. You can’t remember the last time you had memorable sex.
Sex is not the only thing that is important in a relationship, but if it was a regular thing like eating and it has been taking a back seat, that is not a good sign.
If you barely kiss, cuddle, or hug the intimacy is lacking in your relationship.
That is a major part of a happy and healthy relationship.
Without that, you are simply friends who live under the same roof, which means the relationship is over.

13. Lack of communication.
Communication is vital to any relationship. With your family, with your friends, even at the job, without communication things just do not work out well in life.
You may have a busy time where you just didn’t have the time.
If you let that become the norm, the relationship will be over before you realize it, if it isn’t already.

14. You’re bored in a relationship.
We all like a good night of Netflix binging and cuddles.
If you find you are bored with this routine of your relationship and have brought up thoughts for a fun date, but they never seem to happen, your relationship may be over.
If your interests are no longer compatible and the newness of your relationship has worn off to expose a staleness, it is time to move on.
15. You convince yourself it isn’t that bad.
This is a big deal. I notice it a lot in women always make excuses.
Something like, “He is so nice though.” Just because your lover is nice doesn’t mean they are right for you.
There is a fear of regret in such a situation. What if you break up, but can’t find other nice people?
This is when you have to know it is better to be alone than with the wrong person, no matter how nice they are.
16. The good doesn’t outweigh the bad.
Pro and con lists may look a bit cheesy and not very romantic.
But if you are thinking if your relationship is over, this is a good way to double check.
Compare the good and bad sides of your relationship. And if there are more bad things than good, it is time to end those things.
signs that a relationship is over
17. You’re always complaining about something.
This is how I know when someone is about to go through a breakup. When instead of raving about their lover, they constantly complain.
Their lover always wants to know where they are and who they’re with. He/she is rude to servers, tips badly, and cancels plans last minute.
If you are doing a lot more complaining than gushing, things are not going well.
18. You can’t avoid feeling that something is off.
This is a hard one to notice. You can’t actually understand what is wrong.
Things are pretty much the same, you do the same stuff, you get along, but there is something you cannot stop put your finger on.
That is your mind trying to tell you to make a move.
19. You never miss your partner when they’re away.
When you are in a healthy relationship and your lover has to go away on a work trip, you miss them a lot.
You make video calls and plan out phone calls. And you are beyond excited for them to return soon.
But when a relationship is showing some bad signs it is over, you may actually look forward to time apart from each other.
The thought of them returning home may feel more similar to the Sunday scaries than excitement.
20. You think about future plans alone.
If you get concert tickets for two months away and don’t tell your partner, you may already be anticipating the breakup.
If you plan a week-long vacation or even take a new job far away, you are planning out your future without telling your partner.
At this moment, it is best to officially end things before it gets messy.
Even though these are all major signs a relationship is over, there is always some hope if you both want to make it work.
