How to do Face Cleanup at Home in 5 Easy steps

Following a high maintenance regime for face cleanup at home is difficult to stick with. Which is why this simple routine is something even the lazy ones will find hard to give an excuse for.

Step 1. Wash your face

This goes without saying, but the first step towards achieving a flawless skin is to clean and wash it properly. You can use a mild soap or face wash for the purpose. Use warm (not hot!) water to wash off the cleanser.

Step 2. Scrub off dead cells

Dead cells, blackheads and dirt deep inside the skin pores won’t come out if you merely wash your face. You also need to scrub your face. There are many good scrubbing packs available in the market, but you can quite easily make one at home too.

Step 3. Tone to soothe the skin

A toner acts as a medicine and covers up any skin breakages that may happen due to the scrubbing. After scrubbing your face may be susceptible to redness and burning so you need to apply a toner right away.

Step 4. Apply a pack

Besides absorbing the excess oils, packs also close the pores which open up during the cleansing and scrubbing process. Rinse of the pack with cool water to close the pores.

Step 5. Hydrate with moisturisers

Packs can leave your skin looking dry and feeling stretched. A moisturiser hydrates the skin as well as seals in the goodness of the cleanup, leaving your face glowing for a long time after. While dry skin types apply oil-based creams while oily skin type apply water-based creams.

Following this simple face cleanup routine will make your skin glow, and make it look fresh and at all times. Still, if you want prefer a professional hand to do the job for you without leaving the comfort of your home, book a Salon at Home service to schedule a face cleanup for the weekend.

For oily skin: Apple cider vinegar is an astringent, making it perfect to use on an oily skin. Make a solution of equal parts apple cider vinegar and equal parts water. Dab this on your face, avoiding the eyes. There’s no need to wash it off. Other alternatives to apple cider vinegar are mint leaves and green tea.

Pack

For dry skin: Mash one small banana. Add half a spoon of honey, one spoon of yogurt, and a few drops of rosewater to make a thick paste. Apply it evenly all over the face and leave it on for at least 15 minutes. Wet your hands and press them to your face to moisten the pack. Start peeling it off your face. Do not scrub or wipe it too hard. Gently rinse your face with cold water to remove the stickiness.

For oily skin: Mix multani mitti (fuller’s earth) with rose water to make a smooth paste, and apply it evenly over your face and neck. Let it dry before washing it off with cool water. Apply some water-based lotion or few drops of coconut oil mixed with lavender or tea tree essential oil to moisturise.
