You don’t have to go overboard and do a complete revamp of how and what
you eat, but you will manage to stop yeast overflow by simply making a
few simple changes.
Yeast can be found in many foods that you don’t even know it’s a part of the ingredients. There are the obvious ones, like baked goods – pastries and bread, but also, plenty of the fermented foods contain yeast. You have beer, mead, wine, distilled vinegar, cheese, and so many others here.
There are even fruits that are particularly susceptible to mould and yeast growth after they’ve been harvested and shipped, and you’re eating them daily. These fruits include blackberries, grapes, raspberries, strawberries, and citrus fruits. (2)
Probiotics To The Rescue
It’s almost impossible to consume too many probiotics, so if you want a list of foods that you can constantly eat (or drinks to drink) without ever being susceptible to yeast infections, then we have the list ready for you.
Are you a fan of yogurt, kombucha, miso, microalgae, kefir, pickles, kimchi, sauerkraut, tempeh and more? Then knock yourself out. Eat as much as you want. They’re safe!
Stop Eating Sugar
And not just for the sake of yeast infections. Just because sugar is absolutely 100% bad for you. Also, you know how when you’re baking, you’re combining the yeast with the sugar first and then you add the mixture to the flour? That’s because yeast feeds off sugar. If you cut off its food supply, yeast will starve.
Not only simple sugards, but you’ll need to cut all processed and refine sugars and sweeteners and improve the flavor of your food with dates and healthy sweets like honey and maple syrup.
Multi-pronged Offensive
There are several natural means to reduce yeast population:
- grapefruit seed extract
- garlic (raw)
- oregano oil
- black and green tea
- lavender
- cranberry juice
- ginger
- tea tree oil
- turmeric
- coconut oil
- castor oil and black elderberry
As an addition to all the foods from above, make sure you’re getting plenty of sleep, avoid processed foods, keep your stress levels low, and exercise regularly.
Eat More Fiber
Your body doesn’t digest fiber, but fiber is the responsible one for facilitating the digestive process. It helps your body eliminate all waste and toxins by absorbing bile and on top of that, it also promotes growth of healthy bacteria.
When a large volume of yeast dies all of a sudden, it’s absolutely normal to experience some flu-like symptoms, but the fiber you’re eating will help cleanse the GI tract and this effect will go away.
